Cindy Woods - Legal & Policy Associate
Cindy Woods is a Legal and Policy Associate at ICAR. She is an international human rights lawyer, admitted to practice in the state of New York. Cindy leads ICAR’s work around issues of global governance, including the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles through National Action Plans (NAPs) on Business and Human Rights, the development of an international treaty on business and human rights, and promotion of responsible business conduct at the G7/G20 levels. Cindy graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as a Legal Research and Writing Fellow, a Public Interest Fellow, and Executive Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law. Her writing has appeared in various human rights blogs and legal journals, including the Georgetown Journal of International Law, the Brazilian Journal of International Law, and the Notre Dame Journal of International and Comparative Law. Prior to joining ICAR, Cindy worked with Human Rights Watch's Business and Human Rights Division, the DOJ Criminal Division Office of Human Rights and Special Prosecutions, Yale University's Transnational Development Clinic, and EarthRights International. She holds a Masters in Philosophy of Latin American Studies from the University of Cambridge (Darwin College), and Bachelors of Art in International Security Studies and Spanish from the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Cindy is fluent in Spanish.
