COVID-19: Solidarity in a time of social distance

It’s been more than one week since ICAR moved to mandatory telework, and while our days haven’t changed much, the world sure has.  As has been our mission since our founding, ICAR continues to work towards the broader implementation of some core values:

1)    We have a shared responsibility for each other.

2)    Disproportionate power must not lead to disproportionate accountability and access to basic human rights.

3)   We are stronger when we work together.

No data, no model can tell us now exactly what the future will hold, but we remain committed to doing our part.  That means making responsible choices as individuals to not further the spread of a pandemic that makes the vulnerable moreso.  That means working in coalition to ensure that resources to address this pandemic go where they are most needed, to prevent corporations or officials from using this crisis to enrich themselves, and to hold accountable those that do.  And that means continuing to find ways to lift up the incredible work of our partners and members. Our meetings may be virtual, but our commitment to you, your work, and doing anything we can to support each other in this time is absolute.
